Providing new boarding facilities for 70 students at this performing arts school in Tring where academic performance also shines.
Stepnell were awarded this project following competitive tender, where we made a positive input into reducing the scope and specification of the scheme to meet the client’s budgetary requirements.
The new building provides boarding facilities for 70 students on the ground, first and second floors, with teaching spaces at lower ground level.
Construction methods consisted of concrete frame with ground bearing slab and sheet piled retention to 77 linear metres to the south of the site, with a steel frame for the second floor. Insulation and metal cladding with a timber ‘screen’ attached sit on the building’s timber cassette envelope.
The roof was constructed using single ply membrane with a perimeter metal gutter.
