The design and construction of a new, much needed, specialist care home for vulnerable people in Poole.
This new two-storey care home provides 80 resident suites – each equipped with a bedroom, dressing and living area, plus en-suite bathrooms – as well as staff offices, changing areas and welfare facilities in the main entrance.
The new suites have been grouped into close knit ‘household clusters’ with associated communal living and dining spaces to create a sense of familiarity and family living for the new residents.
Larger multi-purpose communal spaces have also been built on the ground and first floors for school and community engagement projects. The external envelope of the building features pitched roofs and chimneys to create a residential feeling reducing anxiety and apprehension for prospective residents.
Designed to BREEAM Very Good, the building features photovoltaic solar panels across the roof.
