Built on the site of a former factory, the Windsor Street Care Centre comprises of 81 en suite bedrooms and ancillary rooms to provide specialist nursing and dementia care for 81 older people.

The three storey building is split between 45 dementia beds and 36 nursing care beds along with assisted bathroom facilities, communal dining and lounge areas, hair salon, sewing room, music room and potting room. Externally, the site boasts fully landscaped sensory garden and specially designed terraced areas for residents, which have been incorporated with glass panel safety walls.

Prior to commencing the superstructure an area of contaminated ground was excavated and capped with the ground floor structural slab.

The building utilises a traditional masonry structure integrated within a steel frame, which partly supports a concrete plank transfer deck at first floor level. The second floor is a domestic construction using engineered timber floor joists, with a trussed roof incorporating a single ply membrane roof covering.

Additionally, the project also involved the complete fit out of the entire care facility with all fixtures and fittings (right down to the bed linen).
